El Roble Negro is an exceptional micro-lot produced by Jaime Núñez in Palestina, Huila, one of Colombia’s most important specialty coffee regions. This coffee represents a carefully designed exotic variety blend, created to highlight complexity, structure, and layered sweetness in the cup.

The farm, El Roble Negro, is located in Vereda El Roble in Huila, where high-altitude conditions and ideal climate create a strong foundation for expressive coffees. Jaime’s work is part of a growing movement in the region focused on precision processing and varietal innovation.

This lot is composed of an equal blend of four varieties: Orange Wush Wush, Yellow Wush Wush, Gesha, and Java. Each contributes a distinct layer to the final profile. Java brings floral notes and a tea-like elegance. Geisha contributes intense jasmine aromatics and bright citric acidity. Orange Wush Wush adds pronounced sweetness and tropical fruit character. Yellow Wush Wush adds fruit complexity and a creamy mouthfeel.

Processed using an extended fermentation washed method, this coffee undergoes a layered fermentation system in tanks where cherries harvested at different times are combined. This creates deeper sugar interaction and enhances both body and flavour intensity. It is then carefully sun-dried on raised beds to stabilize moisture and preserve clarity.

In the cup, expect an intensely aromatic and complex profile with notes of blueberry jam, pineapple, and red grapes. The acidity is bright and clean, with a silky medium body and a long, sweet finish reminiscent of white chocolate and ripe fruit.
