Understand tasting notes on a new level.

Edmonton · Saturday, December 6 · 10:00am – 11:15am

Ever wondered how someone tastes "blueberry" or "brown sugar" in a cup of coffee? This class shows you how. We'll explore the Coffee Taster's Flavour Wheel and practise identifying the basic tastes (sweet, sour, bitter, salty, umami) using everyday foods, building your vocabulary one sip at a time.

From there, we'll move into mouthfeel: body, texture, and finish, and how they change what you experience in the cup. You'll leave with a sharper palate, a new language for describing what you love, and a new way to enjoy every coffee you drink.

What You'll Learn

You'll learn how to navigate the Coffee Taster's Flavour Wheel, moving from broad categories to specific descriptors. You'll practise identifying the five basic tastes and rating their intensity. You'll also learn to describe mouthfeel, including body, texture, and finish. You'll finish the class with a practical vocabulary for describing what you taste in coffee, and in food too.
